About Trevor Eliott – Mr. Fancy Fez

Trevor Eliott began his Masonic journey in 2014, driven by a deep compassion for children and a desire to serve. Early in his Masonic career, he found his calling within Shriners International, dedicating himself to its core mission of helping children through world-class care and support.

In 2025, Trevor proudly serves as Assistant Rabban on the Board of Directors for Al Shamal Shriners, and as an Associate Governor for Shriners Children’s Portland—a role that underscores his commitment to advancing the healthcare and outreach efforts of the Shriners on both sides of the border.

He is a Master Mason in good standing of Acacia Lodge No. 11 and Arkhitekton Lodge No. 205 in Edmonton, Alberta, where he actively promotes leadership, education, and the enduring values of Freemasonry.

Widely known as Mr. Fancy Fez, Trevor is devoted to growing and strengthening Shriners International by focusing on membership development, public engagement, and educating communities about the fraternity’s purpose, history, and charitable work. His mission is to bridge tradition with relevance—ensuring that the Shriners continue to inspire and make a difference for generations to come.

The “Mr. Fancy Fez” persona was born on March 25, 2024, during a visit to Allenby Chapter No. 38 of the Order of the Eastern Star, when Terri Matheson complimented the flair of Trevor’s fez. The name stuck—and today, Mr. Fancy Fez represents a blend of service, leadership, and heart in everything Trevor does for the fraternity and beyond.

Our Impact

Community Outreach

Our Commitment to Shriners Children’s

At Mr. Fancy Fez, we proudly prioritize the needs of our local community. While we value the efforts of all charitable organizations, our primary focus is supporting Shriners Children’s™, along with the hospitals, patients, and dedicated medical professionals who make its mission possible.

Shriners Children’s™ is the flagship philanthropic effort of Shriners International. For families in Edmonton and across Alberta, the nearest dedicated facility is Shriners Children’s Canada, located in Montreal. This world-class hospital is where many of our young patients are referred for specialized care.

Ensuring access to that care involves more than just medical appointments. Significant resources are dedicated to providing transportation and accommodations for patients and their families—removing financial and logistical barriers so they can focus entirely on healing. We’re grateful for the ongoing support from partners like WestJet and Air Canada, who help make these journeys possible.

Inside each Shriners Children’s facility, families experience more than just medical treatment—they find compassion, connection, and a sense of home. The care is personalized and family-centered, with a collaborative environment that allows medical staff to build strong, supportive relationships with every child. They get to know their patients deeply—from the challenges they face to the little things that make them smile.

Whether a child needs short-term care or long-term, complex treatment, Shriners Children’s™ provides not only world-renowned healthcare but also emotional and social support. For many families, it becomes a second home—because we don’t just treat conditions. We care for the whole child.

Shriners Childrens

In addition to supporting Shriners Children’s™, Mr. Fancy Fez is proud to champion the Alberta Masonic Higher Education Bursary Fund (AMHEBF)—the charity of choice for Freemasons in Alberta. This initiative empowers students by supporting access to post-secondary education for those in financial need.

Bursaries are awarded based on financial need and demonstrated academic ability, and are open to students in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. The Fred and Lilly North Masonic Bursary extends eligibility to applicants from specific communities within Alberta and Saskatchewan.

By investing in young minds today, we build a better tomorrow—for our province, our country, and the world.

About Al Shamal Shriners

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Al Shamal Shriners is a dynamic fraternity of Master Masons dedicated to helping children—especially those facing orthopedic challenges, spinal cord injuries, or burn injuries. As part of Shriners International, our mission is rooted in compassion, fellowship, and service.

With nearly 200,000 members worldwide, Shriners are known not only for their philanthropic work, but for their joyful and spirited approach to life. The fraternity embraces a philosophy often expressed as:
“Pleasure without intemperance, hospitality without rudeness, and jollity without coarseness.”

Shriners enjoy life together—through parades, circuses, family events, sporting outings, dinners, dances, and more. These social experiences form a powerful bond among members and strengthen the work we do to support what is proudly known as the “World’s Greatest Philanthropy”—Shriners Children’s™.

By combining fellowship with philanthropy, being a Shriner adds deeper meaning to life. It offers joy, purpose, and a sense of fulfillment—not just to the Noble himself, but to his entire family.

Al Shamal Shriners is one of 196 Shrine Temples across North America and beyond, including chapters in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Republic of Panama. Many Shriners also participate in local Units and Clubs—ranging from parade units and motorcycle teams to hospitality groups and ceremonial teams—ensuring a variety of ways to get involved and stay active.

Looking for a way to make a meaningful impact in your community?
Support your local Shrine Centre. In Edmonton, Mr. Fancy Fez proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Al Shamal Shriners, and he’s always happy to speak with fellow Freemasons who are interested in learning more about Shriners International and how to become a Noble.

If you're a member of the general public, you can still play a vital role. Consider supporting our work by donating to your local Shrine Centre or directly to Shriners Children’s™, where every dollar goes toward changing the life of a child in need.

Making Good Men Better

Freemasonry

Freemasonry is a deeply personal journey—one that means something different to every man who joins. For some, it’s about belonging to one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political fraternal organizations, welcoming men from all walks of life. For others, it's about camaraderie, friendship, and brotherhood—the kind that lasts a lifetime.

At its core, Freemasonry is a way of life. Members are expected to uphold strong moral principles and continually strive for personal growth. Through a series of degree ceremonies, Freemasonry guides men on a path of self-knowledge, service to others, and a deeper understanding of the Brotherhood of Man.

Concordant and Appendant Bodies

Many Freemasons choose to continue their Masonic journey through affiliated organizations known as concordant and appendant bodies. These groups offer further opportunities for learning, leadership, and fellowship, often focusing on specialized teachings or charitable missions.

Notable Masonic bodies include:

  • Shriners International – Focused on philanthropy, particularly through Shriners Children’s™

  • Scottish Rite and York Rite – Offering additional Masonic teachings and degrees

  • Order of the Eastern Star – Open to both men and women

  • Daughters of the Nile – A female-led organization that works closely with the Shriners to support children’s healthcare

Masonic youth groups also play an important role in developing future leaders:

  • DeMolay International – For young men

  • Job’s Daughters International – For young women

These organizations help instill the values of Freemasonry—integrity, charity, and respect—from one generation to the next.

Professionally, Trevor is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), applying his expertise as a policy advisor for the Government of Alberta. He brings the same sharp analytical thinking and ethical grounding to his volunteerism and leadership roles as he does to his career.

Trevor proudly serves as the Assistant Rabban of Al Shamal Shriners, where he is a tireless advocate for Masonic growth and visibility across Western Canada. Known for his passion, energy, and approachable style, Trevor is helping modernize the Shrine experience—combining a deep respect for tradition with a forward-thinking approach to leadership, engagement, and outreach. He is also pursuing his MBA at the University of Illinois, further enhancing his ability to lead strategically.

Trevor’s mission is clear: to keep the heartbeat of the Shrine strong. From revitalizing units and building community partnerships, to mentoring emerging leaders and crafting innovative membership strategies, Trevor is committed to ensuring that the Shrine remains relevant, vibrant, and purpose-driven for generations to come.

Beyond his work with the Shrine, Trevor is a passionate supporter of youth mentorship. He has volunteered for many years with Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton, helping young people build confidence and achieve their potential.

He also dedicated over a decade (2012–2024) to coaching high school football at St. Francis Xavier, and remains one of the program’s biggest champions to this day.

Above all, Trevor is a devoted husband to Julia, and proud “papa” to two lovable pups: Ozzy Osbourne (the “Prince of Barkness”) and Cleo, the ever-vigilant neighborhood watch.
